WiMAX Course Structure
Selected highlights of the hands-on labs where you will
deploy, install, configure, and test a WiMAX system,
- Install a WiMAX base station site while emphasising safety and best practices
- Assemble the outdoor mounting apparatus to hold the Subscriber Station Outdoor Unit
- Connect AC, Data, and PoE cables before testing and aiming the ODU towards the Base Station antenna.
- Use the Element Management System (EMS) application to add a new Subscriber Station object to the Network Map.
- Apply the configuration settings needed to provide compliance with the customer’s Service Level Agreement (SLA).
- Use the Installation Manager application to determine the optimum placement and orientation of the Subscriber Station.
- Measure the RF characteristics of various WiMAX signals, including RCE, EVM, and CINR, using a precision quality signal analyser.
- Use the analyser’s Fixed WiMAX Demodulator Measurements mode to evaluate the modulation quality of OFDM/OFDMA data bursts.
- Compare the recorded measurements to applicable specifications to determine passing or failing values.
- Perform measurements for high- and low-CINR conditions.
- Make measurements with the analyser directly connected to the WiMAX signal source, via coaxial cable, and over the air, to simulate measurements that would be frequently performed at the base station.
- Construct a customised pass/fail test which includes measurements and pass/fail criteria that a technician might use for over-the-air (OTA) testing of Fixed WiMAX base stations.
- Check the readings against pass/fail criteria included in a customised script that you create.
- Conduct Mobile WiMAX Drive Tests
End of day 4: In-class Certification Testing Opporunity
At the end of the four-day boot camp, students will have the
opportunity to complete the proctored WiMAX Forum Network
Associate™ certification exam, which tests relevant knowledge and
practical installation skills.
Boot Camp practical experience:
The boot camp is structured as 30% tutorial content in ten chapters,
and 70% hands-on exercises in twelve labs, focused by an ongoing
case study. Through a special arrangement with Aperto, Anritsu
and WirelessLogix, the DoceoTech Lab is equipped with base station,
subscriber station and field test equipment from multiple WiMAXForum
