The Ekahau RTLS (Real Time Locating System) is an end-to-end solution for finding and tracking people or assets. It provides accurate positions of 1000's of objects in real time to applications that expose the information to the users or systems utilizing the information. The positioning uses standard 802.11 wireless network with standard access points, network interface cards or Ekahau WiFi Tags — no extra hardware infrastructure is needed

The Ekahau RTLS consists of the following components:

Tracked Devices are the devices that are tracked by the system. For tracking a Laptop or a PDA a small network agent program, Ekahau Client, runs on the tracked devices. The Ekahau Client can also be embedded into devices such as VoWiFi handsets.

Ekahau T201 WiFi Tag is ideal for tracking assets and people. It features small size, advanced power management and motion activated positioning.

Ekahau Positioning Engine is the industry leading system for "infrastructureless" tracking of objects. It receives measurements data from Ekahau Clients, calculates their location estimates and provides location information feed to the Applications.

Ekahau Manager is an administration application for doing Site Calibration™ of the locating area, performing accuracy analysis and tracking objects on a map.

Application layer consists of end-user applications for accessing the location information. The applications may either be custom built, provided by a 3rd party or one of three applications in the Ekahau Application Suite:

• Ekahau Finder is a web application for querying the locations of people and assets from web browsers. The query results display the name of the area where the object is located and a view of the object on a map of the area.
• Ekahau Tracker is an application for tracking objects. It provides a real time view of the tracked area with selected objects displayed graphically on map of the area.
• Ekahau Logger is used for storing the historical tracking information to a database for example for analyzing the location data or recording procedures.
