Why this LTE Signalling course?
This is a specialised and detailed two day course which covers the major area of LTE's (Long Term Evolution) Signalling.
LTE, Long Term Evolution, is defined as Release 8 of the 3GPP specifications, consisting of the eUTRAN and the SAE /EPC.
There are a considerable number of protocols and signalling messages being passed during system operation, between Uu and eUTRAN as well as between eUTRAN and EPC. This three day course describes the overall protocol structure before focussing on specific protocols including LTE to Ue protocols including PDCP, RRC, RLC and MAC, the inter-eNodeB protocol X2, the S1 protocol between the E-UTRAN and the evolved packet core and the evolved GTP for LTE.

- Be aware of MAC Procedures across the Ue and UTRAN
- Appreciate the roles of Radio Link Control (RLC)l, Radio Resource Control (RRC) and Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP)
- Be able to follow message sequences on the S1 and X2 interfaces
- Appreciate interworking with earlier non-LTE 3GPP releases
